Full volume 10 chapter 1 posted

I updated chapter 1 of volume 10 with the remaining parts of the chapter. It actually contains one of my favorite scenes in the series, so enjoy. Unrelated but Ookuma said he’s going to be drawing Chisato soon, so lookout for that.

Akiba blog’s yearly ranking

For those of you that don’t know, Akiba blog¬†annually releases a top ten list in terms of articles that have the most user views over the year. Unfortunately Shinmai wasn’t able to repeat and take the top spot two years in a row. A second place finish is still respectable though considering all of the R18 stuff in the top ten. They also have a ranking of popular articles by month. So if your favorite series didn’t make the top ten feel free to check the monthly rankings to get a general idea of the buzz surrounding some of your favorite series. Anyways I’m going to go enjoy some New Years festivities. Stay safe, Drink responsibly, and enjoy bringing in the new year.

unrelated: I uploaded the complete prologue of volume 10. I might be doing updates to sample translations for some of the other volumes in the event I’m not bombed when I wake up tomorrow.

Volume 9 released

As promised, I publicly released volume 9 today. You’ll find it in the “sample and volume translations” for volume 9. I’m waiting for a graphic to be finished, so those of you interested in a PDF will have to wait until that’s finished.

For those of you that watched Departures and are looking to see what happens next, you might as well pick up the novel and start reading volume 9. Volume 9 more or less serves as the reintroduction of the Hero Clan into the series. One of my issues with the first half of the series, has always been that it focused way too much on the Demons. The focus on the Hero Clan was a much needed change of pace, which worked well for the series. One of my favorite characters, Celis finally gets her introduction. Unfortunately you only get to see one side of her in volume 9.

I have to go post translation updates for donors. Stay tuned for volume 10’s public release.

*edit this post will be updated with my soap box rant on why you should support the series and purchase the raws even if you can’t read japanese.*

Big Announcement: Public Releases

Apologies for making folks stay tuned a bit longer than originally suggested.

The topic of public release has been heavily debated internally among our translators, fellow donors, and myself. This decision has been a long time in the making. Internally the idea has always been that once we finished translating the remainder of the main series that we would begin publicly releasing volumes. Since we’re getting ready to wrap translation through volume 12, we’re going to start publicly releasing volumes. We’ll be starting public releases with volume 9, volume 10 will follow after, and so forth.

If you aren’t a donor, I still encourage you to donate so that you don’t have to wait for public release. As in the past, you’ll get instant access to all of the volumes and other Shinmai related media that has been translated through the project. Volume 13 is the last volume in the main series that’s still in need of funding, So you’ll be getting access to that as it’s translated ahead of public release. You’ll also gain access and a say in other light novels that the group decides to have picked up for translation. There’s also other Shinmai related media projects that are currently in the pipeline that you’ll have access to as well.

Shinmai is nothing but porn and Uesu can’t write battle scenes… (volume 10 chapter 2 sample translations)

Shiba did nothing wrong

I updated the sample translations for volume 10 chapter 2. The Nonaka’s finally get the opportunity to fight without any nerfs due to being in the human world. You really get an idea of how far the girls have come in terms of their combat capabilities since volume 7. I’m hoping S3 happens, because it would be a treat to see these battles animated.

Mio and the rest of the harem finally find out about Chisato

I updated the sample translation for volume 10 chapter 3. If you ever wondered how Mio and company found out about Basara and Chisato’s relationship give it a read. Unfortunately the sample cuts off right before Basara’s nightmare, which is one of the most powerful scenes in the series, and puts his character in perspective. If Shinmai gets an S3, I would trade sex scenes and lewd BD specials, if the anime went with a nightmare scenario ending.

Sneaker Bunko 30th Anniversary “The Sneaker” Magazine

Screen Shot 2018-11-09 at 12.59.05 PM

I originally intended to purchase the physical edition of “The Sneaker” back during the end of last month. However I started playing Red Dead Redemption 2 and forgot all about making my preorder. When I went to try and preorder they were sold out on Amazon Japan, and I felt terrible. The good news is that Sneaker Bunko decided to release it digitally on Bookwalker. This was a great move for people such as myself that missed out on the first wave of the physical edition.

Shinmai appears a few times in the magazine. The most interesting appearance being some of the editors talking about Sneaker Bunko’s Ero Light novels and their future with new writers. Uesu’s contribution to the Sneaker came at the end. It’s more or less a reflection on the success of Shinmai as well as his well wishes for Sneaker Bunko. The only thing of any real note is that he tells fans to look forward to Volume 13 of Shinmai which will release early next year.

Anyways I’m a big fan of the Sneaker Bunko 30th anniversary Illustration. I like how all of the top selling Sneaker Bunko series were placed next to each other. It was a nice seeing Mio next to Harui, Deedlit, and Aqua.
